Make Your Resolutions Specific and an Arsenal Prediction

In my last episode of the Thrivapy/Roddyverse show, I discussed setting goals for 2018. One piece of that episode dealt with making your goals specific.

To recap, specific means:

  1. There needs to be an element of time associated with the goal.
  2. The goal needs to be measurable.
For example, a goal to lose weight does not speak to any timeline or measurable outcome. Instead, losing 36 pounds this year has both. To make the goal even more "sticky" break down the goal into more manageable parts. In this example, that might be 3 pounds per month or 1.5 pounds every 2 weeks.

In my future posts, I will continue to dig deeper into goal setting. This includes the other aspects of good goals (challenging, realistic, and flexible) as well as tips for how to align your goals with your higher purpose and motivational bias.

Now for an Arsenal prediction.

Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion today. Both teams are in the midst of a busy holiday schedule having played mid-week. West Brom are at the bottom of the table and desperate to climb out. Arsenal need to keep pace with the top 4.

Arsenal have the better attacking team by far, but the defense is unpredictable. West Brom are not likely to score more than one goal, but they usually play Arsenal tough at home.

This is one of those matches that, on paper, is obvious. However, other top teams (except Chelsea) have struggled some this weekend. Arsenal have not won at West Brom in the last 2 meetings. In the last 5 matches between the 2, Arsenal have a 7-5 advantage, but all 5 West Brom goals have been at home (which today's match favors them).

Today's 3-point prediction:
  1. Arsenal win 2-1.
  2. Lacazette scores on the road today.
  3. West Brom's goal comes off a set piece.
