Money, Glory, And Fun

There is a line in the 1977 movie, Smokey and the Bandit, when But Reynolds' Bandit is asked why they are going to attempt the bootlegging run from Texas to Georgia. In response, Bandit replies, "For the good old American life: for the money, for the glory, and for the fun...mostly for the money."

Why do you do what you do? Why does your organization exist? Why do people on your team show up each day?

We deserve to be properly compensated for our efforts, our expertise, our talents, and the risks we take.

We all want and need to be recognized for our efforts. It feels good to know we are making a difference.

If we are to spend at least a third of each day sharing our gifts in the service of others, a degree of fun or enjoyment is not too much to ask.

There is no guarantee or promise that all of these will exist in your organization. Perhaps your company has decided which of the three options matter most and delivers on that condition.

What is worst is when an organization declares one matters, but delivers another as a means of deception.

Nothing to see here.

Integrity matters.

What matters to you? What matters to the team?

A. Money
B. Glory
C. Fun
D. All of the above
